German Silver Comb

German silver is another name for Nickel Silver which is a metal alloy of copper with nickel and often but not always zinc. It’s named for its silvery appearance but contains no elemental silver. The comb itself has imprinted designs all around it that were placed in after English settlement. The designs are circles with flower-like design in them and riveted tines. The comb is worn like a modern day headband. The comb is 14 cm across and 6 cm high. It was collected in a museum purchase in 1968 but it is likely to be older.
