Knife and Sheath

These Stone knifes have been around for more then 1,000 years and the only difference in the process of making these knifes are that they are done with a grinder and not hand sanded. Using the grinder has certainly sped up the process but still is very tedious. It does take time and a lot of patience.

It has been seen that only seven North American tribes have made these kind of knifes. The stone that this knife is made of is Paiute Agate, which is only found in the Great lakes. This could be why only seven North American tribes had made these knifes. Other tribes could have received these knifes through trade.

The handle of this knife is made of red deer antler carved to fit this stone blade; the sheath is brain tanned buckskin with European trade beads. The leather is from deer hide from the northern America
